DNV acoustic device

produced by the Italian House SCAE, acoustic device

The device is suitable for being installed within controlled pedestrian crossings in order to signal blind people the possibility to go-ahead.

The mentioned device is can have the following features:

  • A push button for normal pedestrian reservation
  • A push button for blind people call
  • Blind people call by wireless means
  • A luminous signal for confirming reservation
  • An acoustic device for signaling the blind people that the request has been accepted.
  • A device emitting an acoustic sound formed by: a microprocessor logic, a sensor for measuring environmental rumours, an acoustic trasductor for sending out the go-ahead signal.

The two units that are installed in either side of the pedestrian crossing can be connected to one another, so that upon a request, the acoustic signal for going-ahead can be issued on both sides of the crossing.

The acoustic unit is installed inside its own box mounted one on the traffic pole's head above the relevant pedestrian signal heads, the other, for the request, on the pole's front.

Call device:

the calling device can be used by two kind of users, common pedestrians and blind people. The request made by common pedestrians is signaled to the traffic controller so that it can either carry it out, introducing inside the traffic signal cycle the desired phase, and so that it can send a feedback signal used by the device for activating a luminous signal for confirming the accepted request. The request by blind people may be done:

  • wireless by the acoustic device mounted on the same pole
  • by the calling device mounted on the same or opposite pole
  • in case the request is done by blind people, during the green signal, the device will store the call and will transfer it to the traffic controller in the next cycle to be accepted.
